This milestone has been called a climate quantum leap. The low emission, renewable fuel is available for all commercial, cargo and business aviation operators at SFO, with commitment in place to use SAF from Alaska Airlines, American Airlines and JetBlue.

Also with Signature Flight Support and NetJets Neste established a strategic partnership to accelerate the adoption of SAF for private aviation operators at San Francisco and London-Luton.

In December 2020, Neste signed an agreement to supply SAF to DHL Express. This deal will see DHL Express become the first cargo operator to use Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel on flights departing from SFO.

The collaboration with Neste and San Francisco International Airport started back in 2018, when SFO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Neste and a group of eight airlines and fuel producers to expand the use of SAF at the airport. The agreement was the first of its kind to include fuel suppliers, airlines, and airport agencies in a collaborative effort to accelerate the global transition to SAF. The deal is part of SFO’s five-year strategic plan of becoming a “triple zero” campus, achieving not just carbon neutrality but also net zero energy and zero waste.
