Cleaner buses for kids and a healthier planet

I stand behind Neste MY Renewable Diesel so much because it’s gonna benefit my kids and my future grandkids. It’s gonna give them an opportunity to live in a cleaner environment.
Tim Shannon, Director of Transportation, Twin Rivers Unified School District

In northern Sacramento County, California, Twin Rivers Unified School District proudly serves more than 26,000 students who come from families that speak 46 different languages. In addition to its commitment to ensuring all students are ready for college and career pathways, the district also cares about the long-term health of their children and the planet, which leads to an important decision they made on their entire school bus fleet.

In October 2020, Twin Rivers achieved a major milestone in its climate action plan by switching 75 diesel-powered school buses to run on Neste MY Renewable Diesel, making its fleet one of the cleanest in the country.

“The reason why we switched to renewable fuel was that it made sense, as our end goal is cleaner air for kids and the community,” said Tim Shannon, Director of Transportation, Twin Rivers Unified School District.

Since switching to Neste MY Renewable Diesel, Twin Rivers and Neste have kept 523 metric tons of CO2 out of the atmosphere each year, which is equal to making 114 cars carbon free, or planting 8,648 trees.

Together with Neste, Twin Rivers is ensuring every child in the district has healthy air to breathe and a safe ride to school. With more trusted partners like Twin Rivers, Neste looks forward to switching more diesel-powered school buses to run on renewable diesel fuel across the nation.
