Neste has not bought crude palm oil from the mills that Amnesty report links to human rights violations and child labor
Amnesty International has today published a report in which it refers to human rights violations in the palm oil industry. It specifically mentions palm oil producer and trader Wilmar in their report. Wilmar is one of Neste's many suppliers.
Neste is not among the companies that Amnesty report links to human rights violations through their palm oil procurement. Neste has not bought any crude palm oil from the mills identified in the Amnesty's report.
Neste has a clear stand on human rights issues: we do not accept harassment, discrimination, child labor, forced labor or any exploitation.
We believe that NGOs focusing on social issues are increasing the awareness of important issues. Simultaneously they contribute to solving the problems in the area of social responsibility. We agree on many of the specific recommendations listed in the Amnesty's report. Neste is already engaging in many of them with Wilmar and other suppliers, as we have highlighted in our recent article: Neste's work on ensuring human rights in its palm oil supply chain strives to set good examples
Neste will closely monitor the progress in this case.
